About Dom McMurray

Counselling for Men in Tunbridge Wells and Online

Real, down-to-earth support for men’s mental health

I’m Dom McMurray, a qualified counsellor who specialises in therapy for men. I offer private counselling sessions both online and in person from my therapy room in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

I also write as a mental health columnist for Men’s Fitness magazine, where I share insights on stress, resilience, and emotional wellbeing to help more men feel supported.

Men come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, lost after a breakup, stuck in old habits, or simply unsure what’s going on. You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes it just starts with talking.

A Counsellor Who Gets It

Before becoming a therapist, I worked in the creative sector. I balanced long hours, deadlines, running my own business, and family life. Like many men, I learnt to keep going no matter what. On the surface I was coping. Underneath, not always.

Therapy gave me space to understand what was going on and how I wanted things to change. It helped me let go of the pressure to keep holding it all in. After the pandemic, I set up a men’s running group to offer peer support and connection. It showed me how powerful it can be when men feel able to talk openly. That’s what inspired me to train as a counsellor.

Qualifications and Memberships

I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I hold the following qualifications from the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB):

  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

  • Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies

  • Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills

Articles & Publications

Alongside my counselling work, I write articles which explore the emotional challenges men face today, from burnout and stress to self-worth and rest. Each piece is written in the same tone I bring to therapy: honest, down-to-earth, and focused on making mental health more approachable.

Let's start with a conversation

If you’re thinking about therapy and want to see if I’m the right fit, you can book a free 15-minute video consultation. It’s informal, confidential, and there is no pressure to continue.

This could be the first step toward feeling more like yourself again.
